First off, big thanks to my friend Ned for bringing me to this show. I’m a giant fan of Katies, and was devastated to hear the show was sold out before her name was even announced. I have seen Mat before, and thought he was OKAY, but his newest album has some great tunes on it! I was so excited to see this show, and it turns out Mat is an extremely likable guy.
Well I meant to write a longer review of the show, but took too long and have forgotten everything…so…I’ll leave you with this little story….It was the last night of the tour, and Mat was a little sad about that. So at the end of the show he started handing out to the audience all the stage props. And by that, I mean the fucking side tables and other pieces of furniture! lol!
Well there was this small trophy that I have been looking at all night, and was left laying on the stage. I got the sound guy to give it to me, I then happily marched up to merch and got Katie herzig to sign it for me. I was SO CAREFUL to not let it smudge on the metal, while I awaited Mat to come out.. and hopefully sign it as well. Right when I was going to split, he came.
As soon as he saw my trophy, he exclaims,”oh no, I can’t let you that! It was my fathers… Would you, would you trade me something for it?”. Aw! He was such a nice guy about it, and felt SO BAD for asking for it back. He literally wouldn’t stop apologizing, and had me put my address on his iPod so he could send me something… like a vinyl record. Well of COURSE I gave it back. I’m just sorry Katie Herzig defaced it, lol. So we’ll see if the guy lives up to his word! Luckily while I was waiting for Mat, I took this photo…so at least I have a photograph of it 🙂
